“Newsroom” star Olivia Munn has booked a multi-episode arc on Season 2 of FOX’s “New Girl.”
According to Deadline, she’ll play Nick’s (Jake Johnson) new girlfriend Angie, who is described as a sexy, earthy and charming woman who can hold her own with the group. Her first appearance is likely to air in November.
“Welcome to the show,” Johnson tweeted Munn after the news broke on Thursday (Sept. 27).
Munn will film her episodes of the Zooey Deschanel comedy before production begins on Season 2 of HBO’s Aaron Sorkin drama “Newsroom,” on which she plays Sloan Sabbith.
The former “Attack of the Show” co-host and “Daily Show” correspondent was recently seen in the films “Magic Mike” and “Babymakers.”
She joins a growing list of Season 2 guest stars, including Carla Gugino, Parker Posey, Niecy Nash and David Walton.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner will also appear as Jess’ divorced parents in this season’s Thanksgiving episode, which will also introduce Rob Riggle as Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) cousin, who is also named Schmidt.
The sophomore comedy returned Tuesday night to 5.3 million viewers and a 2.7 rating in the adults 18-49 demo.
“New Girl” continues Tuesday nights on FOX.
