(Burbank, CA):  Television and feature film production has been defecting from their traditional roots in California to other states in order to take advantage of attractive tax credits and other incentives.  This has caused a slowdown in all levels of businesses associated with production; from camera operators to caterers.

Producer and studio owner, Bob Bekian, has just finished an extensive re-modeling of his Loyal Studios location in Burbank, incorporating the latest technical tools into his facility in order to provide a reduced cost to producers.  “We are a leader in Green Screen technology, and have installed one of the most advanced 360 degree lighting systems in our industry,” Bekian says.  This allows for very quick set-ups in our studio, saving an average of 20% on preparation time, which leads to more shots completed during the day.

Another important feature the studio has developed is a fully-integrated control room with the studio.  This allows for editors and file managers to work in tandem with the camera operators to assemble and edit footage immediately during a day in the studio, allowing for immediate revisions and notes.  “We have incorporated the latest HD storage and file management technology into our facilities so that producers can reduce costs and keep production value high.”  The strategy is paying off with several of the big studios turning to Loyal Studios to augment their production slates, recently Pacific Rim, Movie 43, and Prometheus have all shot sequences at Loyal Studios.

It is an epic production that utilizes hundreds of visual effects shots in order to create the giant monsters and environments in the story.  Warner Brothers and Legendary called on Bob Bekian’s high tech Digital HD studios in Burbank to provide the production elements for several sequences. The shots called for the use of Bekian’s pre-lit green screens with specialized lighting and monitoring in order to do pre-visualization of how the sequence will look after post production.

“We have designed our facilities to use the latest technology in order to produce incredible images that tell compelling stories,” Bekian said.  The sequences shot at Loyal Studios employ the ARRI Alexa camera system.  The studio’s integrated control room that feeds the HD files into an array of technology does everything from immediately replacing the green screen background with various sample digital “plates,” to uploading the files to off-site Producers via a high speed internet connection.

Guillermo del Toro directed the sequences, including one with renowned NFL quarterback, Terry Bradshaw. “We love working with Legendary Pictures and especially Guillermo Del Toro,” Bekian adds.  “He is a visionary director, and Legendary Pictures continues to produce incredible films that continually push the industry’s bar of excellence.”

Yolanda Pecoraro will play the lead in “Venice 13” Produced by Loyal Studios

Hollywood (CA):  The Producers of Venice 13, the controversial true story of an undercover unit in Los Angeles, have cast Yolanda Pecoraro in the lead role. Pecoraro will play Vanessa Rodriguez, the notorious agent who broke up an arms smuggling ring distributing weapons to Al-Qaeda cells in the L.A. area.

Executive Producers Bob Bekian of Loyal Studios, and JoJo Ryder of Untouchable J Productions went through an exhaustive casting process in order to find Pecoraro. “The character of Vanessa has to have a very complex set of skills and Yolanda Pecoraro can definitely fill that role.”  Noted Bob Bekian.

“She has athleticism, incredible acting skills and a realistic attitude about the character”

Venice 13 posterThe story follows Precinct 13 in Venice California which is a joint task force created to battle the 40,000 gang members distributing various types of contraband coming in through the port of Los Angeles.

James Bond Bisexual: Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem On Alleged Homoerotic ‘Skyfall’ Scene

Daniel-Craig-Javier-Bardem-Pictures-Announce-Start-Bond

Is Javier Bardem the first “Bond boy”?

Speculation over what has been described as an “erotically-charged scene” in which Bardem’s character Silva apparently caresses the torso of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in the latest installment of the 007 franchise, “Skyfall,” has been rampant in the weeks leading up the movie’s Nov. 9 release.

Now Craig is setting the record straight, albeit somewhat coyly, in a new Movieline interview. Describing the scene as “a great flirt” and “a game of cards,” the actor says, “Someone suggested that Silva may be gay. And I’m like, I think he’ll f*** anything.”

Craig, who said that he “loves the scene,” also noted, ” I don’t see the world in sexual divisions.”

As for Bardem, the Spanish actor noted that while Silva’s sexuality was “part of the game,” his goal as the character was simply to create “uncomfortable situations” for the other players. “Within that, you can read anything that you want or wish,” he said. “But it was more about putting the other person in a very uncomfortable situation where even James Bond doesn’t know how to get out of it.”

You can read the full Movieline interview here.

It should be noted that the torture scene in 2006’s “Casino Royale” — in which a naked Bond is strapped to a bottomless chair while being whipped in the genitals bythe villainous Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) — was also noted for its “homoerotic” subtext.

Nicole Kidman & ‘The Paperboy’: Actress Refused To Say The N-Word

Nicole Kidman infamously urinates on Zac Efron in “The Paperboy,” but there’s one thing she flat-out refused to do.

Speaking at a press conference at the New York Film Festival, director Lee Daniels revealed that Kidman would not call a black cast member the N-word. Kidman, who the Los Angeles Times describes as “looking slightly annoyed,” explained that she felt as though the slur didn’t “feel right for the character.”

“I have a son who’s African-American and I just didn’t feel it was right,” the actress added. “It wasn’t right.”

Kidman’s turn as Charlotte Bless has earned rave reviews from critics, many of whom were simply shocked by her daringness in the film. In addition to urinating on Efron (his character has an unfortunate encounter with a jellyfish), she also participates in a couple of wild sex scenes, including one in which she pantomimes performing oral sex on an inmate (played by John Cusack).

The urination scene, though, has emerged as the biggest story to come out of the movie. Daniels explained the shooting to GQ: “First of all, it was really hard to shoot. It was the third day. The first scene we shot was the sex scene with John [Cusack and Kidman]. I like to get that right out of the way. The second day was the telepathic sex scene in the prison. And the third day of shooting was the piss scene.”

He also said he thought it was too much to keep in the film, but Kidman insisted. Kidman — who recently appeared topless on the cover of V Magazine —
apparently didn’t want the work to go to waste.

Daniels told HuffPost Entertainment that he thinks audiences will be surprised by the film, especially given that it’s his follow-up to “Precious,” the 2009 movie which garnered six Academy Award nominations.

Seacrest: No problem with feuding judges

american idol judges

New judges for “American Idol,” from left, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj and during a news conference in New York.

Feuding divas on “American Idol“? Ryan Seacrest says that’s just great.

The show’s host said Wednesday that things got intense between new judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey during a tryout taping the previous day in Charlotte, N.C.

Amid a dispute over a contestant, Minaj announced that she was no longer putting up with “her … Highness,” in a reference to Carey and with a few expletives added in.

Another new judge, Keith Urban, was in the unenviable position of sitting between the two of them.

On his radio show, Seacrest said “Idol” needs some passionate debate.

“It did get intense,” he said. “We want that. We want them to be on this panel together. This is a good team, a great team, to go out and look for the next American Idol … the feedback that they give is very good.”

“American Idol” is still the nation’s most popular show despite a dramatic fall-off in ratings last season that led to three new judges joining Randy Jackson. The show’s new season premieres in January.

A Fox representative said Wednesday the network has no comment on its feuding judges.
